About The Banks At Mill Village
The Banks at Mill Village is a new 102-unit mixed-income housing development and is the first phase of the Louis T. Chase Homes revitalization project. It was designed to complement the history of the Mill District community which was designated as a Purpose-Built Community in 2019. The housing is a mixture of project-based Section 8 voucher units, Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) units, and market-rate units.
A key feature of this development is the co‐location of the Mercy Med Health Clinic which provides preventative healthcare services conveniently located on‐site for the residents of The Banks at Mill Village, as well as the general public. Mercy Med is partnering with Mercer University School of Medicine to staff the clinic. Other amenities include an onsite leasing office, community room, fitness center, onsite laundry, business center, playground, dog park, and community garden.
This development received an allocation of Federal and State 9% Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) in November 2019. Other funding sources included HACG Moving to Work (MTW) funds, a private construction loan, and deferred developer fees. The total development costs were $30 million.
